Renaissance Academy Charter School opened in the fall of 2007 as the only charter school in LaPorte County, Indiana. It grew out of Renaissance Academy, a small kindergarten-through-eighth grade private, non-profit, Montessori school started in 1999, and will remain a Montessori community focused on giving students the best possible educational experience. Our mission is to help every child reach his or her greatest potential with confidence and joy and we have the same mission with regard to our staff. The school has 275 students (one Preschool & Kindergarten, one Kindergarten, four 1st-3rd Grade classes, four 4th-6th Grade classes, and two 7th-8th Grade Middle School classes) and is growing to 300 students over the next few years.
Renaissance Academy is in a semi rural area about one hour from downtown Chicago. The school is just off I94, 5 miles from Lake Michigan, on the edge of Michigan City and LaPorte. Within fifteen minutes of the school are the communities of Chesterton, Beverly Shores, Long Beach, Rolling Prairie, IN and Harbor Country, MI.
